Choosing to yacht charter Australia gives you a wide range of options, in terms of how you want to experience this incredible country. You can sail between diverse areas, seeing iconic places such as the Sydney Harbour, where you can visit the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
When you charter a yacht here, you can enjoy access to remote areas with pristine beaches, in areas like the Whitsunday Islands or the Kimberley Coast, where you can also see historical features like ancient Aboriginal rock art.
Throughout the surrounding coasts, you can encounter wildlife like dolphins and whales in protected water and marine parks. A huge part of sailing here is also to experience the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef and biggest living structure.
Stretching 2,300 km along the Coral Sea, the Great Barrier Reef is home to around 400 coral species and 1,500 fish species. The site has UNESCO World Heritage status as it’s the most complex natural ecosystem on Earth. For many, this natural wonder (that can be seen from space!) is a real bucket-list adventure. You can dive, snorkel or whale watch in these areas, or relax at the celebrated Whitehaven Beach.
To experience more of Australia’s nature, head to the West of the country for ancient landscapes, red cliffs and waterfalls. Take part in a bushwalk, or try surfing. You can even split your time between adventures, to slow things down at high-end restaurants and bars, enjoying vibrant city nightlife and marinas.
There is so much to explore in Australia, making it an incredible place to travel. Chartering a yacht in Australia gives you the chance to experience famous landmarks, natural wonders and important cultural sites, setting it apart from any other yacht charter destination.
French Polynesia
With over 100 islands, French Polynesia is an exciting and diverse area to travel. In this part of the South Pacific, you’ll discover a colourful wilderness, set amongst stunning beaches, abundant wildlife and a distinct culture.
Some of the famous islands here include Bora Bora and Tahiti, known for their prominent mountains wrapped in lush greenery, electric blue waters and colourful reefs. The beautiful, private beaches with incredible sunsets are reason enough to yacht charter French Polynesia.
However, there are also plenty of activities to enjoy, like snorkelling and diving to spot rays, sharks and tropical fish in areas like Taha’a.
Visit the volcanic peak of Mount Otemanu or brave a hike through jungle-clad cliffs, swim in lagoons or simply relax in tranquil bays. You can also experience rich Polynesian culture through local festivals, dances and speciality cuisine.
Fiji
The nation of Fiji is made up of over 330 islands, forming the archipelago. Its two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, are home to most of the region’s population. In this part of the South Pacific, you’ll find volcanic mountains, rainforests and spectacular coral reefs.
Fiji is the perfect yacht charter location for anyone looking for world-class scuba and snorkelling experiences. The Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands are a must, with their clear waters and abundant coral and marine life.
When you choose to yacht charter Fiji, you gain exclusive access to the remote areas, like private islands and bays. You can easily explore the Great Astrolabe Reef, Rainbow Reef, and Beqa Lagoon (where you can try shark-diving or fire walking!), or simply enjoy water activities from the comfort of your yacht.

Seasons
It’s important to choose the season you travel carefully. For trips to the South Pacific, you need to take into account the region’s dry seasons, as these are the best times to experience the islands.
For French Polynesia and Fiji, the dry season runs from May to October. Peak times are between June to September when temperatures range from 19 to 28°C. For the quieter periods, aim for either May or October.
Trips to Australia are usually best between October and April, as this is their summer period. Temperatures are around 25 to 35°C from December to February, with calm seas, ideal for visits to the Great Barrier Reef and other landmarks.
Accessibility
Most regions in the South Pacific can be reached via international flights to major island airports. These include:
Nadi International Airport (NAN): The main airport in Fiji with international flights.
Faa’a International Airport (PPT): Located in Tahiti, this is the main access route to the French Polynesian Islands.
To start yacht charters in Australia, there are several key airports you can travel to, including:
Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), Brisbane Airport (BNE), and Melbourne Airport (MEL): For international arrivals.
Cairns Airport (CNS), Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine, PPP), and Hamilton Island Airport (HTI): For direct access to coasts and marinas, where you can start a charter.
Alternatively, you can arrange for private flights or travel. Speak with a member of our yacht charter team to discuss our range of VIP travel options.

Across the South Pacific, different currency is used, as follows:
Australia: Use the Australian Dollar (AUD)
French Polynesia: Use the Franc Cours Pacifique, or ‘Pacific Franc’, CFP Franc (XPF). The Euro (€) is also widely accepted here.
Fiji: Use the Fijian Dollar (FJD)
Depending on the islands you include in your trip, some places may also accept New Zealand Dollars (NZD) or US Dollars (USD). However, your booking team will be able to assist you with queries regarding this.
Languages
English is widely spoken in Australia and most of the tourist areas across the South Pacific Islands.
However, in the more remote areas of French Polynesia, the main languages spoken are French and Tahitian.
In Fiji, official languages include English, Fijian and Hindi, with some smaller islands using their own indigenous languages.
