Florida Yacht Charter

The Florida Keys. 125 miles of islands between Miami and the open sea.

A Florida yacht charter is defined by island-hopping, short intracoastal passages, coral reef snorkelling and a blend of natural beauty and lively island culture that stretches from Miami’s world-class marinas to the southernmost point of continental America. From the protected reef of John Pennekamp in Key Largo and the dolphin and shark waters of Key West to the pioneer history of Elliott Key and the fishing of Bimini, routes are shaped around your pace, whether that means lively harbour towns and dining ashore or quiet anchorages and unhurried swim days onboard.

Princess curates each luxury yacht charter in Florida around your timing and preferences, carefully matching yacht, crew and itinerary to your group so the experience feels seamless from embarkation to return.

Why Florida remains a
charter favourite

Florida is one of the Americas’ most rewarding cruising regions, where 125 miles of island chain, the only living coral barrier reef in the continental United States and year-round warm water mean short passage days between genuinely varied destinations.

The contrast between the energy of Miami and the unhurried pace of the outer Keys allows itineraries to move naturally between city life and natural wilderness. The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park — the first undersea park in the United States — and the proximity to the Bahamas make Florida a natural departure point for longer Caribbean adventures.

Florida
1
Day 1
Miami to Key Largo
Begin your charter at Key Largo, the accessible northern gateway to the Florida Keys and the starting point for John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park — miles of protected snorkelling and scuba space, the first undersea park established in the United States.
2
Day 2
Key Largo
Spend a full day exploring the reef and the surrounding waters — diving the Christ of the Abyss statue, snorkelling the coral gardens and making use of whatever the water toys and the reef conditions offer.
3
Day 3
Key Largo to Key West
Cruise to Key West, the southernmost point of continental America, where dolphin and shark watching, snorkelling and scuba diving across multiple marine environments make it one of the most active water destinations in the Florida Keys.
4
Day 4
Key West
Experience Key West’s full offering — the waterfront, the sunset celebrations at Mallory Square, the dining and the diving — with a full day to take it at the pace the island encourages.
5
Day 5
Key West to Elliott Key
Sail to Elliott Key, a peaceful slip of sand and Biscayne Blue where hiking trails, hidden picnic spots and fishing from the dock replace the activity of the Keys proper. The island was once a pioneer spot for sponging and pineapple farming — the history is still there for those who walk the trails.
6
Day 6
Elliott Key to Cat Cay
Discover Cat Cay, a private members-only North Cay with good beaches, a golf course, tennis courts and Caribbean-influenced dining alongside the bluefin tuna fishing that draws serious anglers to these waters.
7
Day 7
Cat Cay to Bimini
Sail to Bimini, just 50 miles from Florida, where paddleboarding, shark diving, shipwreck exploration and cage diving with bull sharks sit alongside the beach bars and nightlife that have made the island the big-game fishing capital of the world.
8
Day 8
Bimini to Miami
Conclude your charter in Miami, the seventh-largest city in the United States, with beaches, parks, golf courses, restaurants covering every cuisine and the kind of waterfront energy that makes a final evening feel like the right place to end.

FAQs

When is the best time for a Florida yacht charter?

November to May for the most settled conditions. December to April is peak season with the best weather and the most consistent sailing.

How many Keys can we visit in one week?

Typically 4–6 stops between Miami and the outer Keys, depending on pace and routing. Key Largo and Key West each reward a full day given the reef and water activity options.

Is Florida suitable for families?

Yes. The reef snorkelling at John Pennekamp, the dolphin encounters, calm intracoastal water and the variety of beach and waterfront stops make it very family-friendly.

Can I combine Florida with the Bahamas?

Yes. Bimini is just 50 miles from Florida and the Bahamas are a natural extension — Nassau and the Exumas are within easy reach for those who want to combine both regions in the same charter.
